Pete Pimperton

How long have you been with the band?*

1989/90 (with a few years away when I lived in Kent)

What inspired you to start playing a brass instrument?

I always wanted to play Jonny Briggs (which I have many times now)

What do you enjoy the most about brass banding/ music in general?

A pint after rehearsals when we can and the family atmosphere

What is your favourite time of year with the band and why?

Summer when the family can come and we can have a picnic

Why did you choose the instrument you currently play?

Same as above, even though I could not even reach 6th or 7th position

Within the world of brass banding and music, what would your lifetime goal look like?

I always wanted to obtain a music degree and play with Championship Section bands, I am extremely proud to say I accomplished both. I also loved playing in my University Big Band.

Has any one person or band inspired you, and if so how?

Don Lusher, what a player

What is your favourite music to play with the band and why? (Marchs, hymns, current music etc.)

Big film / TV buff so any of them, marches and traditional brass band music. Love the music from Brassed Off.

What do you feel makes Harworth Brass unique from other bands or

why did you choose to play with Harworth Brass?

The relaxed family atmosphere, we are all there to make music and enjoy ourselves

If you had the opportunity to learn another instrument (brass or non brass) what would it be and why?

Soprano Cornet if I had the lip lol

What is your favourite memory or occasion from your time with Harworth Brass, and what made it special to you?

Winning the 3rd Section and going to the finals in Harrogate (even though it was badly organised we all enjoyed ourselves)
